Learning to Be a Duck in Bruges

Duck and Ducklings in Bruges, BelgiumPhotographing ducks at Minnewater (Lake of Love) in Bruges, Belgium.

While watching a family of ducks, I was so excited when I captured momma duck jumping into the lake. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one trying to capture the duck family in action. But momma duck paid no mind, because she was busy setting an example for the little ones.

Ducklings in Bruges, BelgiumAfter momma jumped, the ducklings peeked over the edge. If I were one of them, I’d have been saying, “Momma, are you crazy?” Perhaps they thought the same. But eventually one ducking got up the courage to jump. I watched as one by one the little ducklings jumped into the lake after their mother, then the duck family swam away.
