Torc Waterfall

Torc Waterfall is located in Killarney National Park just a few miles outside of Killarney.

Torc Waterfall, Killarney National Park, IrelandThe waterfall is a short walk (approximately 300 meters) from a car park on the N71 (Killarney – Kenmare Road).

Torc Waterfall, Killarney National Park, IrelandThe path follows the downstream waters, which provide audible accompaniment when flowing over rocks.

Path Above Torc WaterfallSteps near the base of the waterfall lead to a viewing point over the Middle Lake. On the day of our visit, recent rainfall made for a few slippery surfaces, so we decided to forego the risk and just enjoy the waterfall. Had we continued on, however, the path is also part of the Kerry Way long distance walking route and a starting point for circular walking routes, which are indicated by a map beside the car park.

Torc Waterfall, Killarney National Park, IrelandTorc Waterfall is approximately 20 meters high. Appreciating the size and power of the waterfall while standing on the viewing platform, which is not all that close to the waterfall, was not as easy as other waterfalls I’ve visited, but the sights, sounds, and fresh fragrances of earth, foliage, and moving water made for a full sensory experience.

Pretty! That red looks kind of scary in case you wanted to go swimming.

  2. Beautiful. And it looks so nice and cool!
