Witch’s Kitchen Tree

Witch's Kitchen Tree at Blarney Castle, IrelandBeneath this tree on the grounds of Blarney Castle lies a cave known as Witch’s Kitchen.

Witch's Kitchen Tree at Blarney Castle, IrelandHistorians believe the cave was home to the very first Irish cave dwellers. But the historians may have erroneously dismissed the Witch of Blarney’s claim to the cave. The witch, who has been imprisoned in the nearby Witch Stone since the dawn of time, escapes her stone prison every evening after nightfall and lights a fire in her kitchen to warm herself before becoming trapped at dawn in the Witch Stone once again. The tree may know the truth, but insists on remaining a silent sentinel.
