Amsterdam’s Floating Flower Market

Amsterdam’s Bloemenmarkt is the only floating flower market in the world (although you might not realize it unless you viewed it from the rear). If you’re looking to choose from a huge variety of Dutch tulip bulbs or tulip blooms and other fresh flowers or plants, or you’re in the market for wooden shoes and other souvenirs, you might find just what you’re looking for.

Bloemenmarkt Stall, Amsterdam, The NetherlandsThe walking lane between the floating stalls and the permanent structures is somewhat narrow considering the volume of people visiting the area at times, so be prepared to contend with crowds. Then again, if dealing with crowds isn’t a problem, you might want to pay the Albert Cuyp Market a visit for similar items (though possibly a much smaller selection) at lower prices. Either way, a stroll through the Bloemenmarkt, situated between  Koningsplein and Muntplein on the Singel Canal, is worth the experience.
