Just south of Kalken, Belgium, are open fields, which were once farmed, but are now mostly covered with grasses and the occasional shrub or tree row or cluster. To get to the fields, we walked along Menneweg, which runs south from the main road of Vaartstraat (N407) and into the open fields where it eventually becomes a dirt road. Close to the end of the paved portion, I saw a church in the distance.
The silhouette is of Sint-Gertrudiskerk, which resides in Wetteren about 6 km (just under 4 miles) away from Kalken. Zoom lenses can be a fantastic thing.
