Hills seemingly covered in animal hides, Cairngorms National Park, Scotland.
Between Tomintoul and Ballater in Cairngorms National Park, the A939 winds through remarkable hills with an animal-skin type appearance. These images were taken just south of the A939/A944 junction (Google Maps: 57.151653, -3.167048).
These are lovely! Love the “texture” of the hills.
Thanks! The hills look almost pet-able, don’t they?
How cool is this! And how thoughtful of you to share it. Thank you 🙂
Sharing was my pleasure. :). I’m glad you liked the photos of this quite unusual landscape.
Great pictures and post!
Thanks! 🙂
I missed that 😦 when we were in the Cairngorms this June. But maybe some other time, as we’re planning to be back – possibly next year – for the Highland Gathering in Braemar.
Best regards from southern Texas,
Pit
I would love to be able to go to the Highland Gathering in Braemar! What fun in such a gorgeous setting. I hope you do make it. The hills are not far at all from Braemar. Did you get to see the Linn of Dee?
No, unfortunately we didn’t see the Linn of Dee. But since we’re planning to return for a longer period, maybe a week or so, we’ll be able to do that then, I hope. Maybe we can make it to the Edinburgh Tattoo [another item on our bucket list] plus the Braemar Gathering next year. That would certainly be great.
Best regards and have a great Sunday,
Pit
